Tony Bates

TonyTony Bates is the presenter of Uncut and Unsigned and Music Librarian for 3MDR (Mountain District Radio) in Emerald.

UK-born Tony was in various bands throughout the 60s and 70s.

His love of music led the the Retired Nurse Manager and Regional Trainer for St John’s Ambulance (Alice Springs) to work at five different Community Radio Stations throughout Victoria.

Uncut and Unsigned landed on time, with a little turbulence en route, at 3MDR on Wednesday 5 March 2014

The program has been around for some 13 plus years now at different Community Stations throughout Victoria and its aim is to give airtime to musos who mainly fall within the independent and unsigned genre, from all over the world.

There’s music from Italy, USA, France, Poland, Russia, Canada, UK and our own island continent as well as elsewhere.

You might not recognise many of the artists/titles but Uncut and Unsigned gives you an insight into that Unheard Musical World which main stream media avoids.

There’s also live to air music, interviews, giveaways, news and reviews plus some cautiously caustic words.

Do you have a classic golden oldie? Submit that to Tony for a journey into the Weekly Vault .

The weekly intro for Uncut and UnsignedĀ  is : A Rooster’s Prayer by The Players (UK) and the weekly outro is: Tickety Boo by The Old School Tie (UK).

The weekly gig guide gives you an idea as to what is on around the traps and if you want your gig mentioned, Tony wants to hear from you!
